The expression “art brut” (outsider art) was invented by the French painter Jean Dubuffet to describe the creations of a collection of artists who had no prior education or artistic background. It is in keeping with this “non-standard” and “outside the box” production that the French artist Laurent Dorchin, a self-taught painter, positions himself, recommending a happy and spontaneous way of practicing art.
It was at the age of 17 at the height of the expressionist painter Ramon Grimalt that Dorchin discovered the world of painting and developed a passion for the Art. Fascinated by Grimalt"s primitive art, he began to paint, exploring other materials such as wood and canvas.
